Wonderful artwork hand-engraved by the world-famous artist StephenXu on a 1922 Peace Dollar Silver Coin!
This is a modified 1922 coin featuring an intricately engraved design in the style of Vincent van Gogh. The coin has been transformed into a hobo nickel, a form of sculptural art where artists engrave, carve, or alter coins to create unique designs.
The engraving showcases a stylized portrait of a bearded man wearing a woven hat adorned with a sunflower, a motif often associated with van Gogh. His facial features are distorted in a Cubist or abstract style, resembling elements of van Gogh's self-portraits. The background includes a night sky with swirling patterns, reminiscent of "The Starry Night," and a small European village, possibly referencing Arles, where van Gogh painted many of his famous works.
The word "LIBERTY" remains at the top of the coin, though it has been artistically integrated into the design. The year "1922" is still visible at the bottom, and the signature "st. Vincent" is engraved on the subject's collar, further emphasizing the homage to the Dutch artist.
